Gluten free banana bread

This is the best banana bread you will ever have, if I may say so myself! The texture is just perfect – light and spongy and I love having it with either a bit of butter or just simply on its own! This recipe has a lower sugar content than you would find in other recipes. If you fancy something sweeter, why not add a bit of jam! Here is the recipe – you can thank me later 🙂 Ingredients: 280g buckwheat flour 5 small to medium ripe bananas (in small chunks) 80ml honey (or 80g coconut sugar) 100g melted, cooled down coconut oil 50ml almond milk 1 egg 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp biocarbonate of soda 1 tsp baking powder Preparation: Preheat your oven to about 180 degrees Celsius Use a loaf tin and spread some butter inside Add all ingredients to a food processor and mix until you achieve a smooth dough consistency (I use Thermomix and set it for the bread mix function for about 5-7min) Pour the mixture into the tin …

Starting again

Have you ever been thinking of doing something new and challenging,  maybe something you’ve been wanting to do for a long time, be it run a marathon, change career or maybe even set up your own company and follow your dreams? But do thoughts of how perfect it needs to be, how long it will take you to achieve your goal, and how other people who are already doing it excel at it, scare and paralyze you from moving forward? I cannot count how many times this has happened to me. Take my blog, for example. This is the third blog I’ve set up in the past 4 years and I’ve spent countless hours and so much energy on perfecting every little detail of Pattern of Taste (with the help of one of my best friends, Anna). Yet, I keep on having long breaks from updating it. There were quite a few things stopping me from keeping it up, but mainly comparing myself to how other people, mainly professionals, do it. The thought of the …

Matcha oat pancakes

As my obsession with matcha continues I have recently developed a brand new one – pancakes 😉 I started with the simple banana and egg pancakes but then I started adding my own touches to it and so far this recipe I am about to share with you is my absolute favorite <3 Ingredients;  4 tablespoons of rolled oats 1/4 cup of almond milk 1/2 teaspoon of matcha powder 1 egg 1 tablespoon of coconut flour If you would like to add a little bit more sweetness to it I could recommend a ripe banana or half teaspoon of coconut palm sugar 😉 Preparation; Mix together oats and almond milk and leave in the fridge (min 20 minutes) Add rest of the ingredients and fry like normal pancakes (preferably using coconut oil) Tip; When adding matcha powder to the mix, I would recommend to first stir it in with a tiny bit of boiled water so that it mixes nicely with the pancake mix 😉

Nicer ice cream- nice cream!

As the sun decided to come out today in London my cravings decided to target ice cream… As much as I love Ben&Jerry’s cookie dough I love my thin (ish) waist more so nice cream it is! I don’t think many of you know how easy and delicious these things are and the only way to find out is to make them yourself;)   Ingredients; 2 frozen bananas 1 1/2 teaspoon of almond butter 1/4 cup of coconut water Preparation; Place everything in a blender and mix until smooth (yes, that’s all!;)) Let me know how you like them;) Love, Mags Xx

Accounts to follow on snapchat

Sometimes I wonder what I would do without snapchat… It’s like a live update on other people lives (modern and classier version of stalking) and if you know the right people to follow you can really get inspired to actually do something with your life when you are feeling lazy;) Here is my list of people who are worth your time 😉 1. Ashy Bines    Ashy Bines in an Australian fitness guru. Watching her snapchats is like getting a lesson from life, she is incredibly inspirational and just very real. She is very honest about her life and how hard she worked for everything she has. Plus she has the cutest baby Taj <3 Ashy gave birth about 7 months ago and she managed to go back to her fit body in no time which she also documented on her snapchat story. 2. Emily Skye and her boyfriend Dec   Emily Sky is another Australian fitness model whose snapchats are mostly dedicated to her workouts and meals. What is great about her, is that …

Cereal bars

You know that moment when you are craving a sweet snack and there is nothing at home that can satisfy it…it’s common, right? The other day it hit me hard so I opened a cupboard and there was nothing but seeds and nuts and that didn’t appeal to me as much… Little did I know that after combining everything I had in a  blender I will end up with like the most amazing CEREAL BARS ever! Anyway, let me share with you this little piece of heaven and do let me know if you made it yourself and how amazing it was 😉   Ingredients; 200g pitted dates (I used 100g dates and 100g figs) 84g honey 64g almond butter 112g unsalted almonds 135g rolled oats And then use your imagination and add little bit of anything you want: choc chips, dried fruit (like berries) or a banana.   Preparation: Process dates and figs in a food blender until it forms dough like consistency. Place it in a bowl together with oats and almonds. Warm …

Overnight matcha oats + green smoothie topping

Hi guys, we are back with some more recipes for you and we will try and give you some tasty ones at least twice a week now so stay tuned!;) I really used to hate porridge, my mum used to force me to have it every morning with some raisins (which I really hate) and it was haunting me until my adult life. Ever since I started my healthy living journey, I kept hearing and reading about oats and how good they are for you. Full of antioxidants, fiber, vitamins and minerals, what more can you ask for?! Finally I gave in and thought “let’s give them oats another chance” and so I went to Holland & Barret and bought the Neal’s Yard Wholefoods Breakfast Porridge Oats. I woke up the next morning and made them freshly with almond milk… I really did not like it. It was too hot, burned my tongue and it wasn’t sweet; it just tasted like childhood mornings! Then as my story goes on, while browsing on Instagram I stumbled …

Organic food – to buy or not to buy?

Organic food, and whether buying it is more beneficial for people and the environment, is an on-going debate. You can find a number of articles in press and online, analysing the results of various studies, which often are contradictory and inconclusive. Whilst big corporations are said to have paid for some of them to work to their advantage, by ‘proving’ that pesticides and GMOs don’t have negative impact on the planet and us, you will still find a lot of independent studies. I wanted to make my own stand on this topic, and so I started with defining the meaning of the term ‘organic food’. The word itself has taken its meaning from the organic matter that farmers use to fertilise the soil. Conventional farmers on the other hand, instead of using compost and animal manure, opt in for synthetic fertilizers. How convenient for them!! And I am not just being sarcastic here. My grandparents used to use animal matter on their farm and so I remember the smell during my holidays thre as a …

Courgette pasta with spicy avocado sauce

Courgettes have recently become my new love and I really enjoy replacing pasta dishes with them. Thanks to that I no longer feel tired and lethargic after the meal. What are the benefits of eating courgettes? They are rich in magnesium and potassium, helping balance the blood pressure, and also the immune system boosting vitamin C. If you are watching your weight, you may want to know that courgettes have a high water content and are very low in calories. One more reason to get a bunch of these and include them in your diet! Substituting pasta with courgettes is very simple; you can eat it raw or slightly steamed, and add various sauces to it. Even though I have been making this pasta for a while now, I can’t believe that I still haven’t got around to buying a vegetable spiralizer to be able to make spaghetti! Oh well, for those of you who are the lucky owners of one, use that. Those of you who are like me and don’t own a spiralizer, …
