The health benefits of beetroot

Beetroot has an exceptional nutritional value, which is why many consider it a superfood. It contains a wide range of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, all of which have amazing health benefits for us. What are the health benefits you can get from beetroots? Beetroots have a unique mix of antioxidants, a bit unusual for red vegetables. For those of you who are interested in the details like me, most vegetables contain carotenoids (beta-carotene in particular), whilst red vegetables get their colour from anthocyanins. However, beets are unique in also including and getting their colour from betalain antioxidant pigment. For this reason, they stand out in their ability to deliver a wider scope of benefits for the body than most other vegetables: Due to their anti-inflammatory properties, they are especially beneficial for heart health, reduction of blood pressure and protection of other organs. Great source of folic acid, potassium, magnesium, as well as vitamins B6 and C. Promote a healthy complexion and hair, and increased energy, mainly through supporting your body in detoxification. 6 reasons to drink lemon water every morning

Drinking a glass of warm water with lemon and cayenne is one of those quick and easy habits that can make a really big impact on your health and well-being. Before I developed this daily routine, I used to crave coffee and sugary foods, like granola or pastries right after I woke up. These foods would satisfy my taste buds but soon after I would be feeling sluggish, bloated and hungry. Since I started drinking the lemon water after waking up, I crave more satisfying foods in the mornings, which set me up for a healthier and more energetic day. One of the main reasons I started this habit was the fact that lemon stimulates the liver, an important detoxing organ that is most active in the mornings. Why is it important to help your liver detox? One of many of the liver’s vital functions is to support healthy and clear skin, and balanced weight, which was what I was after when I started this habit about a year ago. In order for the liver …

Easy coconut flour pancakes – ideal for breakfast!

I can’t even tell you how much I love pancakes! But going grain free, and especially avoiding white flour, meant that I didn’t have any for the past few months. When I heard about coconut flour and that it can be used for baking, I decided to search ideas and decided to make pancakes as a first recipe. Amazing! Coconut flour is actually a finely grained dried coconut that remains after coconut oil is extracted from the flesh. Coconut flour is naturally high in fiber and protein, low in carbohydrates and is gluten free – this means it has the opposite effect on us compared to any grain flour. Main coconut flour benefits are: It makes you feel full for longer and cleans other residue before leaving our body. It absorbs moisture very easily, helping to clean our digestive system, which also means that staying hydrated is an important thing to remember when having a treat made from coconut flour. A little bit of this flour goes a long way and it is never a …

Antipodes – the natural way to treat your skin

I tested quite a few natural beauty products over the past few months and I can’t wait to tell you all about them. First of all, I wanted to talk about face creams and I will start with one of my favourite brands, Antipodes. The brand is from New Zealand and their products are made of sustainable and traceable ingredients, which are free from parabens, silicones, petrochemicals, sulphates and many more toxic ingredients, which can be found in conventional creams. The packaging they use are made of recyclable materials and their products are not tested on animals. Products I tried so far: Antipodes Rejoice Light Day Cream This cream’s key ingredients are Manuka flower and avocado oil, which heal, are anti wrinkle and provide moisturizing nutrients for the skin naturally. I find this cream perfect for the day. It feels rich but is well absorbed by my skin, even when I started using an oily foundation on top of it. I always worry whether a new face cream will sting my skin and feel uncomfortable, …
